Three jail warders were fired by the administration from the Central Jail in Bareilly in the state of Uttar Pradesh after a probe into the incident involving a murder accused hosting a social media live through a phone he should not have had on his person.
The investigation was launched following a video going viral of Asif, the murder accused residing in the Central Jail of Bareilly where he went live on social media on Thursday.
The video was only 2 minutes where Asif is heard saying, “I am in heaven and enjoying it.” After seeing the viral video on social media, the brother of the person who Asif was accused of murdering organised a meeting with Umesh Pratap Singh, the District Magistrate and also handed him a written letter for the complaint.
Following this, a junior warder was fired and the jail administration asked two other warders for a written explanation about the incident.
On Saturday, a statement was issued by Kuntal Kumar, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Prisons stating, “Three jail warders Ravi Shankar Dwivedi, Hans Jeev Sharma and Gopal Pandey have been suspected of dereliction of duty on Friday. The deputy jailor Kishan Singh Baldia has been attached to the Jail Headquarters Lucknow.”
Kumar further said, “A written explanation has also been sought from jailors Vijay Kumar Rai and Neeraj Kumar regarding the incident.”
According to the official, no offensive article was found during the probe in the barracks.
Asif, the murder accused allegedly shot Rakesh Yadav aged 34 years who was a PWD (Public Works Department) contractor to death on December 2nd 2019 in the vicinity of Sadar Bazar Police Station in Shahjahanpur. He also had an alleged complicit in the crime identified to be Rahul Chaudhary and both are presently locked in the Central Jail of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh.
