On Tuesday morning, Apple held its ‘Scary Fast’ event, unveiling a range of new Macs featuring the latest iteration of the company’s proprietary chip. The M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max chips are touted as the ‘first personal computer chips’ built using advanced 3-nanometer technology, offering a faster and more efficient CPU. Notably, these chips boast an enhanced GPU capable of supporting ray tracing, mesh shading, and Dynamic Caching, optimizing memory usage during tasks.
The M3 processors, supporting up to 128GB of unified memory, feature the powerhouse M3 Max chip with a staggering 92 billion transistors, a 40-core GPU, and a 16-core CPU. The new 24-inch iMac received a significant upgrade with the M3 chip, claiming to be twice as fast as its M1-equipped predecessor. The revamped iMac includes a 4.5K retina display, Wi-Fi 6E compatibility, and a 1080p webcam. It is available in seven vibrant colors with color-matched accessories, all equipped with Lightning connectors.
The 24-inch iMac is priced at $1,299 with an eight-core processor and $1,499 with a ten-core processor, open for preorders and set for release on November 7th. However, the M3 upgrades extend beyond the iMac; Apple also introduced 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, each featuring the M3 Pro or M3 Max processor. These laptops come with a Mini LED display, a 1080p camera, a six-speaker sound system, an impressive 22-hour battery life, and up to 128GB of RAM. Available in silver and space black, the MacBook Pro variants feature a new coating to resist fingerprints.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M3 Pro chip is priced at $1,999, while the 16-inch M3 Pro is $2,499. Both models are open for preorder and are scheduled for release on November 7th, offering users cutting-edge technology and enhanced performance across the Mac lineup.
