Rohit Sharma led team India has conquered England in the 4th Test match and secured the series victory by 3-1 lead. The fourth Test between India & England turned out to be a action-packed affair in JSCA International stadium complex in Ranchi on Sunday. The young bloods of India shone their charm once again and India won the match by five wickets. It also led to the first series defeat of the hyped Bazball era in India.
Though the Sharma-led side was on the backfoot in the first innings after Ben Stokes won the toss and chose to bat first. Also at the time of India’s batting, the English bowlers kept taking wickets at regular intervals, all the while increasing their pressure on India. Shoaib Bashir also showed his magic with the ball and took his maiden Test fifer when India was suffering at 177/7. But young talents like, Dhruv Jurel (90) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (73) played patiently and reduced England’s lead to just 46 runs.
Next, it was the bowlers who displayed their hunger for the series win. Ashwin, took a fifer with Kuldeep Yadav assisting him with his four wickets which resulted in England to collapse in just 145 runs. In total, India just needed 192 runs to win the match. Jaiswal (37) and captain Rohit Sharma (55) gave the balanced start for the first wicket. Later, Gill and Jurel led the team to victory. Gill scored an impressive fifty while Jurel remained unbeaten at 39. Their 72-run significant partnership helped the team to win the match by five wickets.
The fifth test match of India against England is scheduled to begin on March 7, in Dharamshala.
