Star Indian pacer Mohammed Shami will miss the upcoming Indian Premiere League 2024 and the T20 World Cup 2024. He is likely to return for the Test series against Bangladesh later this year. Shami last played in the ODI World Cup final against Australia in November 2023 and had undergone a surgery on his right Achilles tendon in London in February.
“Shami’s surgery is done, he is back in India. His return is targeted for the home series against Bangladesh,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah revealed. Shami also did not participate in the India squad that defeated England in the recent Test series and now BCCI is hoping for him to return with full fitness ahead for the Test series against Australia.
Wicketkeeper batsman, KL Rahul who got injured during the India-England Test series, is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the NCA. “KL Rahul needed an injection, he has started rehab and is now recovering at the NCA,” said Jay Shah. Rahul had last played the 1st Test against England in Hyderabad.
BCCI also provided an update about Prasidh Krishna’s fitness that very soon he’ll start his rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) after his surgery.
On Tuesday, BCCI also made a big revelation on Rishabh Pant’s recovery from injury and said that the wicketkeeper batter is all set to take part in the upcoming IPL 2024. Pant missed IPL 2023 due to his horrific car accident on December 30, 2022.
