The J&K Police recovered 45 lakh cash and 4.2 Kg of charas from a house in Mehlur area of South Kashmir.
SSP Shopian Tanushree told ANI “ Zainapora Police had received information that a resident of Melhura, allegedly named Frooq Ahmad Koka has charas and cash at his place.”
The police officials after receiving the information launched a special operation and raided the house of the suspect in a proper procedure and recovered 4.2 Kg of charas and 45 Lakh cash.
According to the offcials, the cash was found in the cowhouse of the residency and charas was uncovered from the house and the shop.
In September 72 drug peddlers were arrested from Bandipora area of Kashmir and 58 cases were registered and assets were 80 lakh were siezed.
On highlighting the zero tolerance approach towards drug peddlers SSP Tanushree stated “ People involved in drug trafficking should get a sign and stop, otherwise strict actions will be taken against them.” Adding to it she urged the parents and teachers to actively participate in preventing young indiviuals from falling victim to drug addiction.
“The cases against drug peddlers have almost doubled since last year in Shopian” , mentioned SSP.
The Shopian police is taking various measures including counselling of drug addicts, providing necessary medications and also engaging educations institutions like schools and colleges to protect young generation from falling victim to drug abuse.
