Three individuals have been arrested for allegedly chanting “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans in the corridors of the Vidhana Soudha. The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded the resignation of Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) Syed Nasir Hussain, who belongs to the Indian National Congress.
The BJP alleges that the arrested individuals were Hussain’s supporters celebrating his election victory on February 27. While Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is accused of engaging in a divisive “Bharat Todo” campaign, the BJP claims that Bengaluru police have arrested his associates for chanting pro-Pakistan slogans inside the Vidhana Soudha. The BJP urges that these individuals be charged with treason and investigated under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). They also demand that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah order Hussain’s immediate resignation and hold him accountable for his involvement.
Tejasvi Surya, the leader of BJP’s youth wing, criticized the Congress government’s handling of the arrests related to the alleged “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans. He accused the government of concealing a forensic report for four days, which confirmed that the slogans were chanted after the election of Nasser Hussain, a Congress member, to the Rajya Sabha. Surya questioned why the report was hidden for so long and who the government was trying to shield.
