“Navigating the changes that come with leaving home, both personally and professionally.”
The day has arrived when I need to leave my hometown, and it fills me with sadness. I am reluctant to depart from this place, but circumstances demand that I do so. This situation is not unique to me; everyone will face the inevitability of leaving their hometown at some point.
Hi, good morning, everyone. I hope all is well with you. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I’m Devi, currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree at a university, and I have experience in content writing. Currently, I’m staying in a city and looking for opportunities in screenwriting. Oh, sorry for any confusion. I was just introducing myself. Now, I’d like to share one of my past stories from when I visited my house.
Spending time with family brings me immense joy and beauty. Additionally, writing stories allows me to escape from the challenges of the world. To be honest, when engrossed in storytelling, I tend to forget about eating because I become fully immersed in the narrative.
The semester has ended, and now it’s time to leave the city and head home. Every college student is doing the same thing as me. I have packed my bag and am waiting for the arrival of the sun. Finally, the sun had arrived, and I started my journey by bus. Saying goodbye to the buildings, to the people, and feeling very excited to see my family. At last, I reached my hometown safely, and my family felt happy looking at me. I enjoyed my time with my family.
Small arguments between siblings create lasting memories. After the argument, we gathered together and started watching movies, chit-chatting with our grandparents, and telling them about how I spent my day in the city. During the vacation, I enjoyed a lot, visited a few places, and a small ride with my father made me happy.
Finally, the day comes when I need to leave home. It was one of the most challenging circumstances for me because leaving them made me feel sad. I wished not to leave the city. However, to achieve our dreams, we need to make sacrifices, even if it means giving up something that brings us happiness.
Even when we have to leave our parents behind, the time comes for me to leave home. My mom feels sad, but she never tells me. Instead, she always encourages me to focus on my dreams and be happy. My father advises me, saying, “Eat your food properly, don’t stay up too late, don’t take on too much stress – just relax and do your work.”
My grandfather advised me, “Don’t be lazy, avoid staying up overnight. Whatever you want to do, go ahead and do it. Take your own decisions, don’t trust anyone blindly, and take care of your health.” I have received the blessings of my family members.
The bus started moving, and my dad continued to gaze at me. As I moved farther away from him, I kept my eyes busy. Despite the emotional moment, I controlled my tears, took out my phone, and informed my mom that I had boarded the bus. The conductor approached, and I purchased my ticket. Looking out the window, I reminisced about the days spent with my family, cherishing the moments and enjoying the presence of my parents.
I always remember one thing: my dad is working hard, spending lakhs of rupees for my college fees, and providing all the facilities, making me feel comfortable every time. He never tells me when he’s faced financial challenges; he never talks about how he manages to pay my fees. Sometimes, he borrows money from others or pledges gold at the bank to ensure I can continue my education. I made a promise to myself that I would get settled in a good position by securing a job in a reputable company. I always strive to give my best effort, and even if the opportunity is not readily available, I am determined to try my hardest and prove myself.
Finally, I reached the city, went to my room, set my things aside, and sat on the bed. I informed my parents that I had reached the city safely. The day ended with a lingering sense of guilt. The next day arrived with a mix of hopes and happiness. I went to college, but my mind kept wandering back to thoughts of my family. It took some time to divert my attention. Work pressures and the pursuit of my dreams may occupy my mind, but they never divert my heart.
Speaking with my family every day on a call helps me forget about work pressure and brings a sense of relaxation. Every parent desires that their child, no matter where they are, stays happy and focuses on their career. Parents typically don’t expect much from their children; instead, they only wish for one thing – their children’s happiness, independence, and the ability to pursue their goals without depending on others.
