The primary suspect named Shabbir in Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Café was arrested recently by the NIA from the district of Bellary in the state of Karnataka, according to ANI, a news agency.
The NIA (National Investigation Agency) has seemingly taken a prime accused into custody in the Rameshwaram Cafe blast in Bengaluru. ANI, a news agency was seen quoting NIA sources, “He (Shabbir) is still being questioned in the case. It is yet to be ascertained whether he is the same man caught on CCTV camera.”
Two days earlier, G Parameshwara, Karnataka’s Home minister had revealed that private investigators who were looking into the March 1 Rameshwaram Café blast have “in a way” uncovered the accused and attempts are being made to arrest him.
Following an extensive investigation by the NIA and the Central Crime Branch of the Bengaluru Police jointly, it was established that the blast was caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at the café in Brookfield in East Bengaluru that resulted in 10 people being hurt.
After the case was transferred to NIA on March 3rd, they issued a reward of Rs. 10 lakhs for any information that could be provided regarding the suspect in the Bengaluru Rameshwaram Café. NIA also stated that the informant’s details will remain restricted
The NIA also made public a photo of the accused that was taken from the CCTV footage where he was shown keeping a bag in the Café. The description of the bomber included a cap, black pants, and black shoes. The NIA stated in a post on the social media platform X, “NIA announces a cash reward of 10 lakh rupees for information about the bomber in Rameshwaram Cafe blast case of Bengaluru. Informant’s identity will be kept confidential.”
