A 54-year-old man murdered his 29-year-old son who worked as a trainer in a gym in Delhi in order to “teach his estranged wife a lesson”, according to the police on Friday. It was discovered during the investigation that the 54-year-old had been organising his son’s murder for the last four months.
The accused was identified as Rang Lal, the victim’s father who had been on the run from police after the murder which happened in the late evening of February 6-7 has been apprehended in Jaipur.
The victim, Gaurav Singhal, a 29-year-old gym trainer was murdered in cold blood by Lal. His body was covered in 15 stab wounds in the face and chest area and was discovered in his house in South Delhi mere hours before Singhal’s wedding.
Late night on 7th February around 12:30 am, the police came across his body covered in blood where upon discovery he was hurried to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Ankit Chauhan, South Delhi’s DCP in his statement to India Today stated, “We searched CCTV footage and other details, confirming that he fled and his phone was switched off.”
Chauhan further said that in the course of the police investigation, it was discovered that Lal’s relations with both his wife and son, Gaurav were rough which led to a lot of friction in the family resulting in his separation from his wife and he murdered his son to “teach his wife a lesson.”
Police also revealed that Lal paid three men a total of Rs. 75,000.
Gaurav’s brutal killing was an accumulation of a quarrel between him and Lal on the night of Wednesday when he slapped Lal which angered him. On his arrest, Lal had gold jewellery of Rs. 50 Lakhs along with Rs. 15 Lakhs in cash that he took with him while running from the house.
