In Bengaluru’s Seshadripuram, the body of a Uzbek woman was discovered in a hotel room of a woman aged 27 years old. The police suspect foul play.
On Wednesday at around 11 pm, the woman identified as the staff discovered Zarina DJeparova’s body in a hotel room on the second floor. The staff had to resort to using a master key as Zarina wasn’t answering the door or the various phone calls, per police investigation.
According to a senior police officer, Zarina did not have any wounds on her body other than some scratches on her face which might indicate smothering. In the police statement, the staff informed last time the woman was seen was during the rent payment of the day on Wednesday which was Rs. 5,500 to Suraj, a hotel staff.
Rahul, her agent for the hotel called her around 10:30 but when she did not pick up, he informed the hotel. When the hotel staff went to see her, there was a “Do not disturb” sign on the room door. However, the agent determined that the manager checked as he needed to talk to Zarina.
The hotel staff found her body covered with a sheet lying down on the room floor when they entered the room around 11 pm. The staff immediately informed the police. The Seshadripuram police arrived at the scene with forensics and a dog squad. The body was taken for a post-mortem following forensic samples like fingerprints. The police found that Zarina came to Bengaluru on the 5th of March and had the room booked for 10 days. Her identifications were found in the room itself as she was a on tourist visa.
According to police, the room was undisturbed and she stayed alone. Police suspect that an outsider murdered trespassing in the room. Further police investigation is underway as they scour through the CCTV footage of the hotel to find any clues.
