In Bengaluru, Karnataka a woman has been rescued by the police. Allegedly, she was locked up by her husband for about a week. This case took place in the Mysuru District.
The victim claimed that she has been locked up in the room often since her marriage, 12 years ago. The woman was escorted and safely sent to her parent’s home. The 30-Year Old woman was kept in a jail-like environment. She had to use a box as her toilet as she was locked inside the room and the bathroom was outside the room.
The man has been identified as Sannaiah. He has been referred to as ‘insecure’. She claims to have led a very restricted life. Every movement made by her was observed. Since her confinement, their two children were made to wait outside the house until the offender arrived.
The victim refused to file a report against the offender and chose to fix her relationship with her husband. Reportedly, she is his third wife. What makes a person keep someone imprisoned? Who gives someone the authority to control every move made by someone?
Is this dominance or Overprotectiveness? Will this woman’s decision to sort her relationship out fix things or worsen the situation? Such a psychotic act requires external interference and a proper step should have been taken against the man to prevent such behaviour. Such an unhealthy and toxic household environment not only impacts the victim but also other members of the family. Children’s mental health and well being must be taken into consideration amidst such circumstances.
