In a disturbing incident in Budaun, Uttar Pradesh, a barber named Sajid allegedly entered his neighbour’s house, asked for money, and ended up killing 2 children. Sajid, who ran a barber shop opposite the victims’ house and knew their father Vinod, visited their house on Tuesday evening to borrow ₹5,000. However, Vinod wasn’t home at the time. Sangeeta, Vinod’s wife, gave Sajid the money and went to make tea. It was during this time that Sajid attacked her three children, killing two of them.
After committing the crime, Sajid fled with his brother Javed, who was waiting outside on a bike. When the police caught up with Sajid, he fired at them and was killed in an encounter. An inspector was injured and hospitalized during the encounter, while Javed remains missing.
A probe into the encounter has been initiated, with the district magistrate seeking the probe report within 15 days. The incident has left the city tense, with residents even setting fire to the barber’s shop. The police have refuted claims linking the killings to the occult and are closely monitoring social media to prevent the spread of rumours.
While the motive behind the murders remains unclear, it appears to be a dispute between Sajid and Vinod, although Vinod denies any such conflict. According to Vinod, he had no dispute with Sajid and was away from home for work when the incident occurred. Vinod’s son managed to escape and alert his mother.
Sajid had approached Sangeeta, claiming that his pregnant wife was in the hospital and he needed money for her treatment. Sangeeta contacted Vinod, who instructed her to lend Sajid the money. Sajid then went upstairs with Sangeeta’s son, under the pretext of showing him something, but he switched off the lights and attacked the child with a knife. When the youngest brother walked in, Sajid also attacked him in a similar manner. The eldest son managed to escape with minor injuries.
An FIR has been filed against Sajid and his brother, and the police are questioning Sajid’s father. Sajid’s mother expressed disbelief at her sons’ actions, stating that there was no tension at home before they left in the morning. She expressed sympathy for the victim’s family but believed her son got what he deserved. This tragic incident has left the community in shock and highlights the importance of addressing mental health issues and resolving disputes peacefully.
