In a recent interaction with youth of Maharashtra pune EAM S Jaishankar on Friday said, since 2014 there has been a change in foreign policy of a country to dealt with terrorism. “There has been a 50 percent continuity and 50 percent change in policy” he said.
S Jaishankar’s statement came after a report on a Guardian alleged that India’s external intelligence agency, Reseach and analysis wing(R&AW) conducted operation deep inside the Pakistan to target terrorist hiding in Pakistan, ANI report.
During an interaction with youth in Maharashtra’s pune ,S Jaishankar while targeting opposition said, 26\11 Mumbai attack during the congress-led UPA government tenure, all were of the opinion to respond back Pakistan but UPA government engaged in several discussion, ultimately they concluded “cost of attacking is more then cost of not attacking, He said.
“something like Mumbai happens you do react to it, then how can you prevent the next one happening?” s Jaishankar said.
Furthermore, he added while asserting his government commitment toward cross-border terrorism, he said there is no rule for answer. Terrorist do not play on any rules, the answer to terrorist cannot have any rule too, he said.
While asking about the most challenging country to maintain relationship with, he said “there are many countries whom you can ask would we maintain relationship, but today Pakistan is a big challenge. Narendra modi came only in 2014 but the problem of terrorism did not begin in 2014. it started in 1947, in no situation terrorism is acceptable and if any nation use terrorism to try and bring you to negotiable table, then it should not be acceptable” he said
S Jaishankar was in Pune at launch of the his Marathi translation book “why Bharat Matters’.
