On the 1st of December, 2023 Noida Police arrested three accused of a dreadful gang-rape which happened in June, 2023. As per police reports the 26-year victim was enticed for a job and then sexually assaulted at the parking area of Noida’s Gardens Galleria Mall by 5 men. The case was registered on 30th of December, 2023 after the victim was threatened by the accused.The Police said that the “statement of the victim has been recorded under section 161 and section 164 of CrPC before the Hon’ble Court.”
The alleged assaulters have been identified as Ravi, Vikas, Azad, Rajkumar and Mehmi. Vikas, Azad and Rajkumar were arrested from Gautam Buddha Nagar and were immediately presented before the Court. Ravi, a relative of of a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Mehmi are absconding still. As per statements released by the police, all possible efforts are being made to arrest the untraceable assaulters. The victim did not file a complain against the molesters due to intense fear. She finally took the step to file a complain against them when the situation became too disturbing.
The 26-year old victim has had to be through this traumatic incident alone, keeping silent. So many women keep quiet about these incidents and the gruesome pain they have been through. The society may have developed and celebrities may talk about sexual assault to spread awareness but the women who have been inflicted with so much pain have still not trusted the system. Why is it so? society pressure or the ugly truth of them filing a complain making no difference in their life or the assaulters not being given the punishment they truly deserve?
