On Sunday march 31, Bharatiya Janta party had organised a rally in meerut as the BJP intensified its campaign for lok sabha election 2024.The prime minister on Sunday target the congress and DMK over the katchatheevu issue.
Referring to the news report by RTI, pm modi on Monday, said that new details on Katchatheeuv has been emerged which has exposed the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) double standard.
According to the news report,in 1974, the central government of india,under the prime minister Indira Gandhi,signed an agreement with the Sri Lanka to give-up on island claimed by india,this move erupt as a highly controversial,particularly in tamil nadu where there is highly opposition parties.
the island was traditionally used by the indian fishermen for fishery. Earlier this move of central government was opposed by the then DMK MP Era Sezhiyan in the parliament,denouncing it as a surrender of territory without proper consultation.
According to the news officials,has now claimed that,then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M. karunanidhi held a meeting with the indian officials, prior to the centre’s announcement the CM had expressed his acceptance toward the agreement.
The report suggested that Karunanidhi was briefed about the agreement,and had showed his desire of acceptance.

On Monday,Minister Narendra modi in his post on X,said that “DMK had done NOTHING to safeguard Tamil Nadu’ interest. New details emerging on Katchatheeuv have unmasked the DMK’s double standards totally”.
Furthermore, he added, “congress and DMK are family units. They only care that their own sons and daughters rise.They do not care about anyone else. Their callousness on Katchatheeuv has harmed the interest of poor fishermen and fisherwomen in particular”,said PM modi.
