A guard posted at DLF-3,heard a baby whining during preliminary hours. As the crying did not stop, he contacted the police which led to the unravelling of a tragedy. A 2-year old boy was sitting next to his dead mother, Laxmi Rawat. She had been killed gruesomely by slitting of her throat. As per reports the call regarding the child crying came in around 1am on Monday at the DLF-Police Station.
The main door to the house was locked. The police saw the woman’s dead body from the balcony. After several tries to get into the house, the police resort to crawling into the one room apartment after removing the AC Vent. As per the investigators, suspicion is that the murder was committed atleast 12-15 hours before the body was found.
FIR has been registered under IPC Section 302 (murder) by the Police. After Laxmi’s body was sent for post mortem, the police contacted her family in Agra and found out details about Laxmi’s husband, Gaurav Sharma who allegedly lost his job recently and was untraceable. The DCP discovered on talking to Laxmi’s family that there had been a history of domestic violence and Gaurav was disturbed after he lost his job.
Later, the Gurgaon Police were made aware of Gaurav’s location by the Ghaziabad Police when they contacted them to inquire about a suicide which took place at Kaushambi Metro Station at 10:44am. Gaurav was identified from the Identification Card he was carrying. The police handling Gaurav’s suicide found out about Laxmi’s murder on contacting Gaurav’s.
Gaurav and Laxmi’s son was admitted to Safdargunj hospital and has been discharged since. He is now under the safe keeping of Gaurav’s family. It is shocking and disheartening to see the turn of events that take place in one’s life which lead to such circumstances. The impact this incident has had on the child and Laxmi and Gaurav’s family is heartbreaking. Gaurav did everything in an impulse, murdering his wife, fleeing his home and then killing himself. If only people communicated better and found solutions, such abuse could be avoided.
