In Delhi’s High Court, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal filed a petition against his arrest and remand by the Enforcement Director, where he is charged with being involved in the Delhi liquor policy scam.
On Wednesday, the Aam Aadmi Party initiated a petition against Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest by the Enforcement Director, accusing him of a Delhi liquor policy scam. Swarana Kanta Sharma, the judge of the Delhi High Court, heard his plea and said she would initiate a notice for this purpose. Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, who was fighting the case for Arvind Kejriwal, stated that he would respectfully oppose it, adding that the ED had adopted delaying tactics. He stated that the notice must be issued as soon as possible because it is against the six-day remands that will end on March 28th, which means tomorrow.
Abhishek Manu Singhvi commented, These are delaying tactics! He is asking his ladyships to decide it today. There are weighty reasons why a matter that challenges the foundation of the remand requires a hearing today. This court may allow it or deny it. His ladyship may take a call on that. Therefore, there is no question of replying.
ASG SV Raju, who is fighting for ED, claimed that they wanted a copy of those petitions, which were applied for by the Aam Aadmi Party, but they got that copy just a day before the day, so ED is pleading some time with the Central Agency to file a reply to those petitions. So the court decided to delay the hearing until the completion of the supplementary list.
The Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, called his arrest and six days of remand illegal; according to him, he should be released immediately.
