On Sunday evening, a 16-year-old student in Karnataka preparing for the SSLC (class 10) exams committed suicide. The SSLC exams began on March 25 and will end on April 6, 2024. The incident occurred in Yadehalli village, Sagar taluk. The deceased boy was set to take the SSLC exams. The exact reason for the suicide is unknown, and police are investigating whether the student was under stress due to the upcoming exams. However, it has been reported that his parents had an argument just hours before his death.
“The parents of the boy used to have a conflict of handling and most of times they fought one another orally. His dad was also an alcohol user,” a police statement followed.
As for the victim, they did sense suicidal tendencies two years ago. There is a high chance that he already did this a month before. He went to the local railway station to commit suicide, however, public spotted him and brought him home safely, as according to a senior police.
They informed that their son was to appear for SSLC examination, but we need to check under which kind of stress he was affected. However, his parents claimed that he was in a good emotional level. But, we will discuss this too along with other angles, he added. Police did not find any note on suicide in the room. On the other hand, more intimates of the victim are being interrogated for further observations. The previous year, also, had attached an SSLC 15-year-old student’s life to a river where a student jumped on to a river before a board exam. This student was diagnosed among the piling up of self-harm cases of students during exam stress.
