In the series of five test matches between IND vs ENG, three matches have been already played with a spectacular lead of 2-1 for India. At the last test match in Rajkot, Sharma led team India to create history after a massive win by 434 runs over England.
When asked in the post-match press conference about K L Rahul, Rohit Sharma commented, “he should be okay”. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed his status on Tuesday. The BCCI informed that the wicketkeeper-batter, KL Rahul is ruled out of the 4th Test of the five-match series on fitness grounds. “His participation in the final Test match in Dharamsala is subject to fitness,” BCCI stated.
Kl Rahul had already missed the third Test in Rajkot with BCCI saying that the right-hander had reached ’90 per cent of match fitness’ and was progressing well under the supervision of the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Mukesh Kumar, who was earlier released from the squad for the third Test in Rajkot, has rejoined the squad for the upcoming Ranchi test.
Meanwhile, India’s premier pace bowler and vice-captain, Jasprit Bumrah has been released from the Test squad ahead of the fourth test, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Tuesday. “Jasprit Bumrah has been released from the squad for the 4th IDFC First Bank Test against England in Ranchi. The decision was taken keeping in mind the duration of the series and the amount of cricket he has played recently,” BCCI said in a statement.
India’s updated squad for Ranchi Test: Rohit Sharma (captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel (w/k), K S Bharat (w/k), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep.
