Ishaan kishan, the young and talented 25-year-old player from Jharkhand, was recently dropped from BCCI’s central contract list and was seen chatting with secretary Jay shah on Sunday evening post MI vs GT match in Narendra Modi stadium.
Ishaan kishan returned back to India in the middle of the South Africa tour last year, giving reasons of travel fatigue and was reluctant to play first class cricket despite many attempts by the BCCI management to involve him. He ignored all the instructions from the board to play for Jharkhand’s in Ranji Trophy game and was seen practicing with MI captain, Hardik Pandya, in Baroda.
Though, later he made a comeback in the DY Patil T20 Cup but it wasn’t satisfactory. In his first match in IPL too, he was dismissed for a duck against the Gujarat Titans.
After Ishan’s ignorant and indiscipline behaviour towards the game, Jay Shah, without taking names said that those cricketers who do not give priority to Test and red-ball domestic cricket will not be preferred for Indian team and central contracts. Although on Sunday night, he reached out to kishan. This gesture of Shah was appreciated by the netizens, who believe that Kishan is not off the board’s radar yet.
While the details of their conversation isn’t revealed yet, Shah’s warmth towards him might be a positive sign for Ishan Kishan.
“For him, again, he did not score tonight so, we can look at all sorts of different things, but it’s a long tournament, he is an experienced guy within our setup and we expect big things from Ishan.” Pollard defended kishan and stated. “He is in a good space, he has been practising well and has been doing fairly decently, so hopefully within the next couple of games, you can see great performances from him and all of you will continue to laud his brains when he does that,”
