IIT Delhi has introduced a new master’s program called MA Culture, Society, Thought, starting in July 2024. The admission process involves a written test and an interview. Graduates from other streams (e.g., BTech, BSc, BCom, BDes, BEd) need a first division in their respective disciplines. Both 3-year and 4-year UG program graduates are eligible, and there is no credit waiver for 4-year UG program graduates.
The two-year full-time program aims to train students in diverse theoretical and methodological approaches to understand the contemporary world. Successful graduates will have the opportunity to pursue doctoral programs at IIT Delhi or other institutions globally, provided they maintain a CGPA of 8.0 or as recommended by the Institute. BTech Advanced Standing students from IIT Delhi are also eligible.
The application window for the MA program is open from March 20 to April 4, with an open house scheduled for March 15. Interested candidates can register at hss.iitd.ac.in. The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences emphasizes that the qualifying degree performance is assessed by aggregating performance across all semesters/years.

The admission process includes a written test on May 18, followed by online interviews on May 27 and May 28. Candidates can also submit their GATE scores in any XH subject in place of the written test. Shortlisted candidates, based on the written exam or GATE score, will be invited for an interview.
The MA Culture, Society, Thought program seeks to equip students with critical thinking skills and a broad understanding of various perspectives. Graduates are expected to contribute meaningfully to academic and research pursuits. The program not only prepares students for diverse career paths but also offers a pathway to further academic exploration through doctoral programs.
Prospective students are encouraged to attend the open house on March 15, where they can learn more about the program, its objectives, and the application process. The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences aims to create a conducive learning environment, fostering intellectual growth and research excellence. Interested candidates are urged to take advantage of this unique opportunity to be part of an enriching academic experience at IIT Delhi.
