An indian Air force(IAF) AH-64 Apache helicopter execute a emergency landing of the Air craft during an operational training sortie in Ladakh area of responsibility(AOR), due to undulating terrain and high altitude.
The incident took place on April 3,fortunately,both the piolets aborded the helicopter emerged unharmed during the landing process and successfully evacuated to the nearest air base.
During the landing process of the Apache Helicopter, piolets managed to sustained damage, and successfully executed the landing, both the piolets are safe now and has been recovered by the nearest air base. The IAF said in the statement.
According to IAF,the order of inquiry has been launched to ascertain the cause of the incident. This is for the first time, such incident has took place which involve IAF Apache chopper. India Air Force procured 22 apache attack helicopter had to make the emergency landing based in Pathankot Air force station in Punjab.
In september,2015,the India had finalized the contract with the US for procuring 22 AH-64 Apache Attack Helicopters at the cost of around USD 3 million. The first batch of Apache was first induced to IAF in 2019 and in 2020 Boeing handed over entire Apache to the Indian Air Force.
The AH-64 Apache hold the reputation of being world’s most advanced multi-role combat helicopter.
The AH-64 carries tailwheel-type landing gear and nose-mounted sensor which helps acquiring targets and providing night vision. It deliver a Varity of weapons which include air to ground hellfire missiles.
