Bhogireddy Trishna, a 31-year-old businesswoman hailing from Hyderabad was arrested on Friday, the 23rd of February by the police on the charges of stalking and kidnapping a TV anchor identified to be Pranav Sistla whom she intended to force into marrying her.
As stated by the police, Trishna was an “intimacy-seeking stalker” who went as far as to place a locator in the anchor’s vehicle to always know his whereabouts as well as recruiting kidnappers to execute the crime.
Trisha came across Pranav’s account on a matrimony site which she later encountered to be a fraud. Following this realization, she got in touch with the actual Pranav which to her obsession and stalking later turned into a kidnapping of the anchor.
According to police investigations, after a few days of chatting with the fake account, when Trisha came to know the truth, she somehow got the real Pranav’s mobile number and messaged him through a messaging application where Pranav informed of her of already being aware of the fraudulent profile and having registered an FIR with the Cyber Crime Police station. Trishna however was undeterred and kept on pestering him through texts which led to the anchor blocking her. Per NDTV, in her desperation to marry him, she gave a worker in her own office Rs. 50,000 to help her and they attached an Air Tag to his vehicle.
The worker in turn hired three other men who kidnapped the anchor on February 11 and forcefully took him to Trishna’s office where they assaulted him. According to the TV anchor’s statement, to protect his life, he consented to talk with her and was finally let go.
Instantly after that, he registered an FIR with the Uppal police station which led to Trishna and the four men being taken into custody.
The FIR was lodged under 363 (kidnapping), 342(wrongful confinement), 341(wrongful restraint) as well as other sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Additional inquiries are underway.
