The delhi government has slightly reduced delhi budget 2024 in health sector as compair to 2023, along with prominent reduction in funds like schems, programmes and projects.
In 2023-2024 the last year budget an amount of Rs 9,742 crore was allocated to the health sector . while this year the amount of Rs 8,685 crore was allocated to health sector in financial budget 2024-2025 announced on Monday.
In her budget speech, Delhi finance minister Atishi said the city’s healthcare system in nine years under Kejriwal dispensation has moved from a state of ‘majboori to majbooti’.
She also spoke about how the national capital has changed in the last 10 years under Aam Aadmi Party-lead government.
Highlighting the achievements of AAP government, minister said there are 38 hospitals under the Delhi government where daily more then 81,000 OPD patients and per month over 65,000 IPD patients are treated free of cost. In 2014-15,thre were 9,523 beds at hospitals and the numbers of rose to 13,708 for the 2024-25 period.
She also said that about 1.5 times more now patients are treated . 0PD counter timing have increased ,data entry operators have been employed and cleanliness and other service’s were employed in a new way.
Atishi also highlighted the contribution of former Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain and said the the revaluation of Delhi health is incomplete without mentioning his name.
Furthermore she added, out of total budget, Rs 6,215 crore has been proposed for hospitals , Rs 212 crore has been set aside for Mohalla clinic and Rs 194 crore has been allocated to purchasing new ambulance for centralised accident and trauma service. Existing hospitals are under going remodeling and construction of new hospitals. Rs 80 crore has been kept for patients availing treatment under Delhi Arogya kosh.
