“Lessons from the pandemic: A narrative exploring personal growth, career changes, and the pursuit of happiness, highlighting the resilience developed during challenging times.”
Dear Sahanju Maruthi,
Sometimes, our expectations can go awry when we believe we are right. The variance between what we anticipate and what we actually receive is significant, but it’s essential to acknowledge it and forge ahead. On the path to achieving certain goals, there might be a necessity to relinquish something that brings us joy.
Now, I would like to share a short story with all of you.
Now, I would like to share a short story with all of you.
After COVID-19, we faced numerous challenges and lost lives. Students encountered various situations, but now they are aware of how technology is changing day by day. Many sectors encountered significant challenges, and their recovery took time. When it came to me, my entire life before, during, and after COVID changed a lot. I have learned many things and am still learning new things.
Apart from this, I have lost my happiness, and now I’m looking for it. Before COVID, my life was entirely different; I used to find happiness in everything. When I got bored, I used to go for a walk with my friends and enjoyed it a lot. However, during COVID, I took on the responsibility of caring for my family as a mother when my parents battled COVID-19 for one month.
After COVID, my entire life changed and exhibited many differences compared to my previous and present life.
Additionally, I was new to the city, and I didn’t even know who this person was going to be. Would this culture make me feel comfortable or not? When I was new to the city, it took a lot of time to notice everything and adjust to this climate. When I was staying in the city, every moment and everything around me felt vastly different compared to my hometown. Despite this, I experienced things in the city that were entirely new to me.
Living in a hostel with roommates from different places and diverse mindsets provided insights into the variety of people around us. The culture of the people in this city was entirely different from ours. The places in the city were so beautiful, and I visited some of them with my friends and family, and I enjoyed it a lot.
When it came to my college experience, it was beautiful. I had very good friends and supportive lecturers. Whenever I sought suggestions, I used to ask my lecturers. They guided me in the right direction and encouraged me to prove myself. There were moments in college that every student enjoyed, like occasionally skipping class and spending time in the canteen, having fun with friends during free hours, engaging in banter, and sometimes even dozing off in class when boredom struck. Using mobile phones and chatting with friends during lectures, taking snaps of each other and lecturers, commenting on those pictures, pulling all-nighters before exams, and sharing assignments were all part of the memorable college experiences that we cherish.
Finally, after 2 years, I feel that it’s better to stay here while pursuing any degree. However, I feel most comfortable in my hometown, where I can share everything with my surroundings, and it refreshes my mind. Anyway, my journey has taught me valuable lessons. When I was pursuing my bachelor’s degree, during holidays, I used to plan trips to my hometown. Finally, I visited there and enjoyed precious moments with my family.
Those times were memorable, and I will never forget them. Finally, I completed my bachelor’s degree and secured a position in a company, but I didn’t find it to my liking. Consequently, I declined the offer and began searching for a new job that would bring me happiness. Although my decision saddened my parents, they believed in me and granted me the opportunity to explore new job opportunities.
At last, after 6 months, I decided to pursue a career as a Content Writer and began my job search. Eventually, I landed a position as a fictional content writer. Despite my initial aspiration to become a doctor, my expectations didn’t pan out. Nonetheless, I have found satisfaction in my career, and I am now settled, balancing the responsibilities of my family and my job.
