Surprisingly, the Bengals are now in the hot seat of the NFL’s scrutiny given that it will be remembered they did not inform about QB Burrow’s wrist damage before playing the Ravens on Thursday night. Investigations are being conducted on why Burrow’s sick wrist that eventually caused his non-attendance in the match was not included among the injury report.
The drama started after the Bengals deleted a clip that showed Burrow alighting on the team bus wearing a what appeared like a soft cast on the right hand. Shockingly, coach Zac Taylor declared Burrow had sprained his right wrist, saying he was unaware of the injury prior to the match.
It was clear that burrow had a hard time playing before he left the game at half time. According to Taylor, the injury happened when Burrow landed on his wrist, which got worsened for him during a touchdown pass. At a later time, the quarterback was found in the locker room wearing a layered wrist wrap.
The NFL renowned for the rigorous injury report may investigate the violations of the Bengals. This could range from penalties to teams like the loss of a draft pick, showing how serious that league is about being transparent.
It is reminiscent of what had happened at the National Football League (NFL) when it penalized the Pittsburgh Steeler’s and Mike Tomlin in 2019 due to breach of policies regarding football player injuries. However, after the Bengals put their attention down, they now pay for their oversight on injury front as the investigation uncoils.
