On Saturday evening, around Nehru Park’s entry in Delhi’s Chanakyapuri area, 2 chain snatchers targeted a person jogging but were not aware that they didn’t target just a normal jogger instead he turned out to be an honoured police officer of the Delhi Police as well as an encounter specialist.
The incident began when the snatchers attempted to snatch the jogger’s chain. But when they didn’t succeed, they threatened to shoot him with a gun succeeded in snatching the chain and made an attempt to flee.
Yet, they made a big mistake by attacking Vinod Badola, a special cell officer and encounter specialist in Delhi Police, also an expert in Krav Maga. The weaponless police officer pursued the duo and engaged in a fistfight with both. Although he did catch one of the snatchers, the other managed to run off.
Badola immediately contacted 112 and notified the PCR. However, Badola was not deterred and began to search for the second assailant with the help of the local police. The other snatcher sought to camouflage himself among the crowd but was apprehended.
According to a statement by Devesh Mahla, the DCP of New Delhi, the two assailants were identified to be Guarav and Pawan Dev. They have been implicated in robbery with the intent to cause death. CCTV camera footage from the vicinity has been collected. The police have also undertaken extra measures to ensure increased patrolling in the area.
Badola has been successful in various high-profile assignments. In October 2013, Badola along with his squad located Nitu Dabodia, the gangster and encountered him in a confrontation near a hotel in Vasant Kunj in the South Delhi area.
