The BCCI(Board of cricket control of India) has announced the revised India’s 16-player squad for the fifth and final India vs England test match in HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala. Though the series is already conquered by India, both the countries still have World Test Championship points to play for, where India is currently at second on the points table and England at eighth.
The wicketkeeper and middle order batsman KL Rahul who already missed the last three tests due of his quadricep injury, has been ruled out of the 5th test too. He will travel to the UK for medical assistance for his injury. “KL Rahul, whose participation in the final Test was subject to fitness, has been ruled out of the fifth and final Test in Dharamsala. The BCCI Medical Team is closely monitoring him and coordinating with specialists in London for further management of his issue.” BCCI commented on his status.
Jasprit Bumrah, the vice captain was rested for the 4th Test in Ranchi for is likely to join the squad for the 5th test in Dharamshala. “Jasprit Bumrah who was released from the squad for the 4th Test in Ranchi, will link-up with the squad in Dharamsala for the 5th Test,” BCCI said in a release. Despite missing one test, Bumrah is still India’s joint-highest wicket-taker in this series, with 17 wickets.
Off-spin bowling all-rounder, Washington Sundar has been released from the squad and he will be joining Tamil Nadu for the Ranji Trophy semi-final match against Mumbai from March 2 to 6. “Washington will join the India squad after the completion of the domestic fixture, for the fifth Test, if need be,” the BCCI statement said.
The release also updated about pacer, Mohammed Shami who underwent a surgery on February 26 for his right heel issues and now he is recovering well and will soon move to the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bengaluru to begin his rehabilitation process.
