Amazon has removed sweets sold under the name ‘Shri Ram Mandir Ayodhya Prasad’ following a notice from the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA).
Following a complaint made by Confederation of All India Traders(CAIT) about alleging the company of misleading trade practices,selling sweets under the guise of ‘Shri Ram Mandir Ayodhya Prasad’,The CCPA (Central Consumer Protection Authority) has issued a notice to Amazon.
Amazon is requested to give a response within seven days regarding the sale of sweets on www.amazon.in under the name “Shri Ram Mandir Ayodhya Prasad”,as per the notice.Failing to respond within the specified period may lead to the initiation of required actions under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.

According to the Consumer Protection (e-commerce) Rules, 2020, facilitating the online sale of food items with misleading representations deceives consumers about the true attributes of the product.
The CCPA, led by Chief Commissioner Rohit Kumar Singh, has expressed concerns over the sale of food products online that wrongly represent themselves, deceiving consumers about their genuine attributes.
“We have received a communication from the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) regarding misleading product claims by certain seller(s) and investigating them for violations. In the interim, we are taking appropriate action against such listings as per our policies.” said an Amazon spokesperson.
Highlighted products include ‘Raghupati Ghee Ladoo,’ ‘Khoya Khobi Ladoo,’ ‘Ghee Bundi Ladoo,’ and ‘Desi Cow Milk Peda.’
