Four people, who were woman’s brothers-in-law were arrested in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur on charges of raping and later killing her on Tuesday. The gruesome act committed by the four accused were done on the directions of the victim’s husband, as per police.
The police said the four accused were arrested following a complaint by the victim’s family. Purportedly, the victim’s husband, who is the brainchild behind this entire incident, is presently in Dubai.The incident came to light on January 20, when locals reported spotting the body of a woman in a naked condition, inside a water tank at an under-construction building, India Today reported.
The report quoting the police said upon reaching the spot, they also found bottles of soft drinks and some eatables.The four arrested accused were identified as Rohit Lodhi, Ramchandra alias Puttu, Shivam alias Pancham, and Sonu Lodhi. A fifth accused in the case, Nanku Lodhi, was on the run.
The police said upon being interrogated, the accused said they raped the woman, who had gone to her parents’ home, on the pretext of taking her to a fair. “Later, they crushed her face with bricks to conceal her identity,” the police said.The accused told police, everything was planned by their brother (the woman’s husband), who also offered them cash.
Meanwhile, the efforts to arrest the man and the fifth accused were underway.The body of the woman was sent for postmortem, which confirmed gang-rape. The report also confirmed the woman died of grievous head injuries and excessive bleeding, the police said.
