Coming from the Sopore area of Jammu and Kashmir, Mattoo was not just an ordinary name on the list. The top terrorist with a ₹10 lakh reward for him had been part of five bomb attacks and the death of five police officers in this region. Mattoo, one of the last big-time terrorists from Jammu and Kashmir, was caught. This is a major event in fighting against fear now happening.
A touching turn of events, a video in August last year showed Mattoo’s brother Rayees putting up the country flag at their home in Sopore. Rayees, who loved his country, told his brother to come back. He showed how things have changed and said “We were India’s people before we are now.” (Us Indians always stay as one.) Rayees talked about his brother’s move to terrorism in 2009. He asked him nicely to return, saying that changes happened and Pakistan now had less power.
