The Supreme Court is all set to hear Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plea regarding his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and his next remand in the excise policy case. The Supreme Court decided to hear his plea right after the Delhi High Court dismissed a similar plea by Arvind Kejriwal. The Delhi High Court rejected his plea because of his non-cooperation with the ED during the investigation. Kejriwal applied to the Supreme Court for relief. He stated that his arrest during the 2024 Lok Sabha election schedule has political motivation.
He claimed that his arrest was assaulting and insulting the Indian democracy and trying to diminish his liberty. Kejriwal also claimed that the timing of his arrest and the schedule of election promotion were motives for insulting his image in his political career. He declares that the ED’s actions have been manipulated by his political opponents. Kejriwal seeks immediate intervention against the illegal curtailment of his liberty, which was put in his appeal to the Supreme Court. He also accuses the ED of staining the reputations of political opponents.
