Young Indian opener, Yashasvi Jaiswal continues to display his fire in the Test cricket against England. He embarked a record-shattering spree in the ongoing Test match against England in Dharamsala and with this, Jaiswal is now the only second Indian batter after the great Sunil Gavaskar (he did it twice against West Indies in 1971 and 1978-79) to score more than 700 runs in a single series.
On the day of the fifth and final Test, Jaiswal had also achieved the tag of, fastest Indian to score 1000 Test runs (in terms of matches, having played 9 Tests), a record belonging to Gavaskar and Cheteshwar Pujara (11 Tests each) earlier. In terms of the innings, only Vinod Kambli (14 innings) has got to 1000 faster than Jaiswal’s 16.
Jaiswal’s is also worth to admire as the six hitting machine. In nine tests, he has smashed 29 sixes, displaying his admirable skills in the field. Now only Rohit Sharma trails behind him with 19 sixes against South Africa in 2019-20.
He is now in the top 10 of the ICC rankings for Test batters, he has surpassed Virat Kohli on the list of Indian batters with most runs vs England in a Test series and currently he is at the top spot with 712 runs in his name in the series so far.
His fearless approach towards the game and his mentality to clear the boundary with ease have become a signature style.
