In Joliet, eight people were shot and killed at three different locations. The suspect of the shootings was found dead 1,200 miles away on Monday Night. The suspected cause of the killer’s death is suicide. The offender has been identified as 23-Year Old Romeo Nance from Texas. He was found dead due to an alleged self-inflicted gunshot wound.
During a conference, Joliet Police-Chief Bill Evans stated that his officers were informed by Will County Sheriff’s Office about several dead bodies being found in multiple homes in the 2200 block of west, Acres Road near Madison Street. In two homes, seven deceased people were found.
On Monday, the Joliet Police released a statement saying that they were searching for Nance. He was last seen driving a Red Toyota Camry. The offender knew his victims and was possibly related to them. The Sherrifs were investigating another case of shooting. A man was found dead in an unincorporated area. The Police established a link when they identified Romeo’s car at that scene through surveillance footage.
Warnings were released against the offender as he was carrying weapons. Around 8:30PM on Monday, the U.S Marshals spotted the offender in Natalia, Texas. After an 18-Hour Drive, Nance was found at Valero Gas Station. He died of a self-inflicted wound after his confrontation with Texas Law Enforcement. He had a history of violence and aggression.
Laura Bane, resident of the neighbourhood expressed her anger and fear as she said”It’s frightening that this is so close to home. I literally live like probably four houses down, and I have a young daughter, and it’s crazy,”. Another woman said “Really angry about it. I’m speechless. I can’t even really talk about it,”.”It’s shocking to me that this stuff doesn’t just happen on TV. It’s real.”
