In a significant operation, law enforcement in Baramulla, North Kashmir, apprehended four individuals affiliated with the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba group. These arrests were made in connection with their involvement with Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh, a known terrorist associate from Kunzer, Baramulla, who is currently incarcerated under the Public Safety Act.
The operation unfolded during a routine security check at the Naradhiri Dangerpora junction on October 30. A combined team of Baramulla Police, Army’s 52RR, and CRPF’s 53Bn spotted two individuals, Gh Hassan Mir and Mukhtar Ahmad Khan, both residents of Pinjwara Laridora Chandoosa, acting suspiciously. Upon seeing the security forces, they attempted to flee but were apprehended.
Upon searching the suspects, the authorities uncovered a Chinese pistol, a pistol magazine, 12 live rounds, and two grenades. A case was promptly registered under relevant sections of the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at the Sheeri police station, initiating a thorough investigation.
Subsequent inquiries led to the detention of two more individuals, Altaf Ahmad Rather and Farooq Ahmad Naqeeb, both hailing from Baramulla. These associates were taken into custody for questioning after two hand grenades were found in their possession.
The ongoing investigation aims to shed light on the extent of their involvement with the proscribed outfit and ascertain any potential threats or planned activities.
