Attention everybody! It finally the time to tighten your seatbelts and get ready to enjoy the fun ride as the Indian cricket festival aka IPL 2024 (Indian premiere league) schedule of the initial phase is revealed. The much awaited tournament is all set to commence its glory from 22nd of March with Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore set to face each other in the nail biting clash at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
The announced schedule of IPL only covers the initial phase of 15 days with 21 matches, considering the Lok Sabha elections in India. Although, IPL President Arun Dhumal stated that the 2024 season of the tournament will be organized in India only despite its clash with the elections. The rest of the schedule will be finalised after the election commission announces the dates of Lok sabha elections as BCCI is still awaiting for the directions from the Home Ministry and the Election Commission of India. “As in the past, the BCCI will work closely with government and security agencies, following all necessary protocols and advisories related to the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections in India,” stated the IPL media release.
This first phase of the season will not have any matches in Delhi so Delhi Capitals will be playing their two home games in Vizag.
Mohammad Shami ruled out of IPL 2024
Mohammad Shami, the senior pacer of India has been ruled out of the entire tournament due to his ankle injury, for which he will undergo a surgery in the UK, a BCCI source told PTI on Thursday. He last played for India in the ODI World Cup and gave a phenomenal performance. He played though he had complications with his landing but didn’t let it infect his performance.
Although his absence in the tournament will be a huge blow for 2022 IPL champions, Gujarat Titans.
