In a shocker, Instagram plans to roll out a monumental update that its users have repeatedly demanded. The man behind the social media giant, Mark Zuckerberg, has recently announced that Instagram is testing a read receipt toggle for DMs. This option is crucial because it gives the user the ability to turn off annoying read receipts which notify someone else’s about your viewing his/her message. Many have been anxiously waiting for the launch since it was first reported by The Verge.
In fact, Adam Mosseri, the CEO of Instagram, shared a teaser of this anticipated feature, showing a snapshot of the forthcoming read receipts button on the live feed. Many people have requested this feature for an extended period. It is now creating quite a buzz on Instagram’s wide users.
This is hardly news for many users of another platform under the meta umbrella – WhatsApp which the consumers are already accustomed to. For years WhatsApp had enabled secretive conversations by letting users choose not to receive read receipt notifications. Instagram will soon join WhatsApp by providing a more relaxed environment for messaging.
But what is it that people are mostly asking themselves? If the same goes for the Messager app? The duo has not confirmed anything regarding that however users yearn for such an update in their messenger platform.
Another interesting event in this regard is the Threads API that Instagram is building. The API will allow the development of apps that revolve around the concept of the threading system. This raises doubts about whether the same can be applied to publishers as well. However, according to Mark Zuckerberg’s new head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, this is a move in the right direction.
So wait for the time when all of your Instagram dm’s will be in secrecy and see the unlimited opportunities with Threads API.
