Western Himalayan Region and Northwest Plains: The IMD predicts a prolonged period of intense rainfall and snowfall in the Western Himalayan Region and plains of northwest India. The forecast includes orange alerts for hailstorms in specific areas. Orange alerts for hailstorms have been issued for West Madhya Pradesh, Haryana-Chandigarh, Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, West Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and East Rajasthan on March 2nd. The alert signifies a high probability of isolated hailstorms in these regions. IMD Local Alerts in Himachal Pradesh: The local meteorological station in Himachal Pradesh has issued an orange warning for thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms, and heavy rains in various districts, including Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Kinnaur, and Lahaul and Spiti on March 1st and 2nd. A “yellow” alert for thunderstorms and lightning is in place for March 3rd. Uttarakhand’s Weather Outlook: In Uttarakhand, the IMD forecasts isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall on March 2nd, with specific districts expected to experience heavy snowfall at higher altitudes. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, hail, and gusty winds are also anticipated in certain areas. Kashmir’s Weather Conditions: The meteorological department in Kashmir predicts widespread moderate rain or snow till March 3rd, with the peak activity expected from March 1st night to March 2nd night. Heavy to very heavy snowfall is likely in higher reaches of north, central, and south Kashmir, impacting transportation and daily life. Northeast India’s Weather Forecast: In North East India, Arunachal Pradesh anticipates scattered light to moderate rainfall and snowfall over the next six days, with heavy rainfall and snowfall expected on March 4th. Similarly, Sikkim is likely to experience heavy rainfall on March 3rd. Yellow Alert in Uttarakhand: The weather department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Dehradun, Tehri, Haridwar, and Nainital districts of Uttarakhand.
