A tragic road accident occurred on the Pilibhit-Basti Road near the Rabhai Bridge in Lakhimpur Kheri district, resulting in the deaths of five individuals. The incident involved a collision between a magic vehicle and a state roadways bus. The deceased have been identified as Rizwan, Monish, Budhram, Aman Kumar, and an unidentified person, all residents of Bahraich.
According to local authorities, the accident took place around 10:30 AM when the magic vehicle, traveling from Pilibhit to Bahraich, collided with the oncoming bus. The impact caused the magic vehicle to overturn, leading to immediate fatalities. Rescue teams arrived promptly, extricated the bodies, and transported the injured to the Lakhimpur Medical College. Due to the severity of some injuries, a few victims were later referred to the Trauma Center in Lucknow.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident may have been caused by dense fog and poor visibility in the area during the morning hours. However, authorities are awaiting the results of the official inquiry to determine the exact cause.
This incident has once again highlighted the urgent need for enhanced road safety measures on the Pilibhit-Basti route, especially near the Rabhai Bridge, which has been the site of previous accidents.
