A major move has been made by Google on its blogpost that indicates that Android users who have always enjoyed endless WhatsApp chat backups are on their way out. Be prepared to learn that all your WhatsApp communication history stored on an Android phone is regarded by Google to be part of its Cloud storage quota.

This transformation deviates from the five-year practice that allowed Android users unlimited storage space for their chat backup. On the other hand, Google revealed that its users may no longer be able to download large-sized files exceeding the 15 GB of total storage from multiple sources like Drive, Mail, and Photos.
However, the blog post informs us that the new policy will first be rolled out for WhatsApp beta users by December this year, ultimately encompassing all Android WhatsApp users early next year.
“Android allows a user to utilize up to three times more personal account storage space for free in conjunction with Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photo services. These are all services that make use of a single personal account with 15 GB memory.
Google assured that WhatsApp backups on Android will remain provided Google account storage permits it. Users will need to delete some items if their storages get full to resume backups.
