Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is currently in Tihar jail for being involved in the Delhi liquor scam case, where the ex-deputy CM Manish Sisodia is also lodged for being accused in the excise policy scam.
This Tuesday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is going to get a pronouncement from the Delhi High Court against the arrest in the liquor scam case. He is currently under investigation in Tihar jail for a money laundering case that is connected to the Delhi liquor scam case. Swarana Kanta Sharma, the justice of the Delhi High Court, will give the judge the following case at 2.30 p.m. Kejriwal had also challenged his next remand in the Enforcement Directorate’s custody. He was later remanded in judicial custody, and he is currently transferred to Tihar jail, beside his arrest by ED.
The national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party has asked the time when he was arrested by the enforcement directors and also stated that it was in infringement of the basic composition of the Indian Constitution, including democracy, free and fair elections, and a level playing field. The ED had conflicted the plea and informed that Kejriwal cannot claim “immunity” from arrest on the basis of upcoming elections as the law is applied equally to him and an “aam aadmi.”.
On March 21, Kejriwal was arrested by the ED, and the high court refused to grant him protection from the coercive action by the federal anti-money laundering agency. On April 1st, he was sent to judicial custody in the case after he was produced in the trial court on the expiration of ED custody. The case has to do with the alleged corruption and money laundering in formulating and executing the Delhi government’s excise policy for 2021–22, which was later recognised as excluded.
