On Saturday, India’s Union Minister, Amit Shah, stated that those activities that promote terrorism and separatism in Jammu and Kashmir have been totally banned.
The Government of India, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji, took the initiative to extend the ban on the ‘Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front’ for five more years, and the BJP government called this an “unlawful association.” The Union Prime Minister stated that the banned groups are still trying to spread terrorism and separatism in Jammu and Kashmir and also warned that anyone who tries to disrupt India’s security, sovereignty, and integrity will face severe legal consequences.
Yasin Malik’s outfit was charged by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in 2019 under the law of anti-terror legislation, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (UAPA). Before this step, Jamat-e-Islami had also been banned under the legal section of 3(1) of the UAPA.
Amit Shah stated on his official social media site that the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League” is an “unlawful association” at least for five years. He said the organisation threatened India’s integrity by promoting, aiding, and abetting the secession of Jammu and Kashmir through terrorism. The Modi government will remain unsparing towards people and organisations involved in terror activities.
