On Wednesday, the Supreme Court has decided to uphold its proceedings over the Murder-For-Hire Case involving a Pastor’s Wife. The Supreme Court has refused to stop Alabama from executing Kenneth Eugene Smith using nitrogen hypoxia. This method has been untested and has raised controversy and concern. Kenneth is the first person to be inflicted death upon by this method by the Execution Team in the United States of America.
The accused man’s attorney argued and stated that it was ‘unconstitutional’ to attempt a second execution after a failed lethal injection attempt in 2022. The 11th U.S Circuit Court of Appeals was also requested to block the execution, the court has not yet released its verdict. Medical Experts have expressed their concern and stated that this medium of death is extremely painful and it will make a person suffer unimaginably unnecessarily. High-concentrations of nitrogen will be transmitted through a mask until it is lethal and causes asphyxiation.
It will also put the health of other people in the room at risk. Nitrogen Hypoxia Execution is a capital punishment. This medium of execution has been prohibited from being used on mammals as it is “distressing”. Kenneth Eugene Smith has been sentenced to execution on January 25, Thursday. According to officials, nitrogen will be pushed in until the body is completely depleted of oxygen. Despite this method of execution being completely new, consequences of excess nitrogen inhalation is well known as it occurs in industrial environments accidentally.
