The student wants her and her friends security on the college campus and also demands immediate restraint from college and cancellation of the accused registration, who used to stay at Sabarmati Hostel. She also demanded that all the ex-students of the college stay outside the boundaries of the college.
A girl from JNU goes on strike at the main gate of the campus for the inactivity of the administration over sexual harassment against four people. She accused four people, two of whom are former students of the campus. She stated that the four of them sexually harassed her at the college campus on March 31st. The college administration started an inquiry on this matter, but the victim stated that the sinners were roaming freely on the college campus.
She stated that it has been more than 30 hours since she first filed the complaint, and no action whatsoever has been taken yet. There have been a bunch of formalities; her friends and she have been at the administration, leaving our classes, demanding justice, and doing all they can while the perpetrators are roaming freely. But the college administration and Sudhir Kumar, who is the JNU Chief Proctor, stated that they are following the rules and procedures to conduct justice with this issue, and it might take some time because the management will also give the accused the accused the chance to defend themselves.
But the question here is: is she safe on the college campus after her complaint that she registered? She informed me that it must be known that the person who harassed her and her friend resides in the same hostel as she does, and she was expected to go into the same hostel, the same corridors, the same mess, to face that person who has caused me such mental harassment.
The JNU Chief Proctor, Sudhir Kumar, earlier stated that the two accused, who were former students of the college, had already been ordered to stay out of the bounds of the campus. She informed me that the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union is also involved in solving the matter, but in this case it is also inactive, so she decided to protest all by herself. She stated that, after witnessing the ineffectiveness of the JNUSU, she decided to take the matter into her own hands. They went to meet the proctor without the survivor, while she and her friends were busy with formalities with the administration.
According to the official, the incident took place around 2 a.m. when the victims were walking near the JNU Ring Road, and suddenly four students started following them in a car. Two of them had already graduated, and they sexually harassed the victims.
