On Sunday, acid splashed on a 5-year-old young girl near Ekkattuthangal Metro, while footpath dwellers were the target of the attack. At 8:30 p.m., the incident took place when the footpath dwellers were preparing themselves to sleep. The sinner is identified as Raja, who drove his bicycle near the footpath where the victims were sleeping and threw an acid bottle. After committing the sin, he fled from the spot. According to a media report, the victim’s name is Vaishnavi. She suffered acid burns on her left hand, but she was swiftly taken to the hospital for treatment.
The police have filed a case based on a complaint by Revathy, who is Vaishnavi’s mother, and the former special teams went to arrest Raja, the sinner. The police are also trying to get CCTV footage from the spot. According to the preliminary investigation, it has been revealed that Raja, the man, was in prison for a criminal case that was also responsible for the acid attack, and he was recently released on bail. As per a news article in Tamil Nadu, it is known that Raja had a chronic conflict with one of the pavement dwellers who used to live beside the victim, and due to the enmity, this brutal incident took place.
Earlier, an old couple also suffered from acid burn injuries after miscreants, who were suspected to be robbers, threw acid bottles into their home. The police are suspecting that the attackers committed this act out of frustration because they failed to find any valuable assets in the house. The acid attacks run massively as, in June 2022, an ex-boyfriend of the victims, named Dheenadayalan, threw acid bottles on his 26-year-old ex-girlfriend and her mother after unauthorised entry into their home. Due to the massive attack, the victims suffered burns to their eyes, mouths, and necks. According to the victims, the sinner started verbally abusing her when the ex-girlfriend opened the door after Dheenadayalan knocked on the door. After then, he forced her to enter him inside and threw the bottles on the girlfriend and her mother, which were filled with cleaning solution.
