According to an official media report, on Thursday, a prostitution racket was leaked in Mumbai’s Mulund location, where the police rescued eight women and one minor girl. On Wednesday, the initiative took place after a raid was conducted on a hotel. It is said that a 34-year-old woman was involved in running the racket and got arrested. It has also been revealed that she was caught in similar cases previously. In a media report, a senior police officer stated that the accused had been arrested in similar cases earlier. A raid was conducted on a hotel in Mulund on Wednesday, leading to eight women and a minor girl getting rescued.
In February, a woman aged 40 was also arrested similarly, where she was accused that, on the pretext of a spa, she was running a prostitution racket. On the basis of a secret tip, police sent a false customer, and then two women were found, aged around 20, who were forced to work in the flesh trade. As per a media report, sections 370 for trafficking of persons and 506 for criminal intimidation of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and provisions of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act were registered against that woman.
One more shocking incident took place in Mumbai in February, where a woman was forcing her minor daughter into prostitution. Later, when it was revealed, she was ordered to spend nine years in prison by a special court. It started when her father died when she was 7 years old and her mother remarried. The victim stated that her mother used to lock her in a room with a stranger man, where she was sexually assaulted by the man.
