Two train catches fire at Etawah railway station. Last night a fire broke out in the sleeper coach of Vaishali Superfast Express. The train was running from New Delhi to Saharsa district of Bihar, and the passengers were travelling in an excitement and hope to celebrate Chhath festival.
SP Rural, Satyapal Singh told ANI, “The fire broke out in S6 coach, and the rescue team reached there immediately.” Further highlighting on the fact that no one was injured in the incident and the train stopped for 30-35 mins after which the railway team started the process to moving the train forward.”
Just a few hours and Kms later another train going to Bihar catched fire; Darbhanga Bound- Humsafar Express. The fire broke out in S1 coach and spread to four coaches when it was passing through Sarai Bhopat Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh. At least eight passengers including a minor had sustained injuries after the fire broke.
Etawah SSP Sanjay Kumar told ANI “We called the fire brigades and got the last Boggies that were on fire disconnected after which we succeeded in getting the fire extinguished. There may be some injuries to some people but there are no reports of casualties so far,” he added.
The Chief Public Relations Officer of North Central Railway also mentioned to ANI “At around 5:30 pm today when the was crossing Sarai Bhopat Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh, the station staff and train guard noticed smoke coming out of the S1 coach and immediately the train was stopped, and passengers were asked to move out”. The charred coaches of the train were also removed from the station.
When asked about the two incidents of train fire in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak told ANI “I thank God that nothing major happened. Further investigations are going on to know more on the cause of the incident.”
There have been no statements given by the Railway minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw.
