Mumbai police have apprehended two shooters who fired outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra’s Galaxy Apartments early on Sunday morning. The suspects, identified as Vicky Sahab Gupta and Sagar Shrijogendra Pal from Bihar, were captured in Bhuj, Gujarat, following a tip-off.
The duo, arriving on a motorbike, discharged four rounds outside Khan’s residence around 5 am before fleeing the scene. CCTV footage revealed the assailants wearing caps and carrying backpacks while firing towards the actor’s home.
Investigations disclosed that the accused had purchased a second-hand bike from Raigad district to travel to Khan’s residence, having rented a house in Panvel for a month.Police sources indicate that both individuals are associated with the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang, led by Bishnoi, currently incarcerated in Tihar Jail for multiple high-profile murders.After being brought to Mumbai from Gujarat this morning, the accused were remanded to police custody for nine days by a local court.
The incident prompted Anmol Bishnoi, Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother, to claim responsibility in an online post, terming it a “preview” and issuing a warning to Khan.The abandoned motorbike, recovered near Mount Mary Church, was registered to a Panvel resident who recently sold it, as confirmed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Panvel, Ashok Rajput.
In response to the attack, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde reached out to Salman Khan, assuring unwavering support and a commitment to upholding the rule of law.In light of the incident, additional security personnel have been assigned to Khan’s security detail, with instructions for the actor to notify Mumbai Police before leaving his residence unless necessary.
